It's a bird, it's a plane, it's WONDERDOG!

Halloween is quickly approaching, which means it's time to start thinking about costumes. Does your pet like being dressed up in silly costumes and making you smile?  The only thing more fun than picking out the perfect costume are the treats.  Here’s a treat from us!  Here are some of our favorite dog boutiques here in Houston.  They all are exclusive to animals and their staff is very knowledgeable, dog lovers, and friendly.  You can also bring your dog with you!  We love dog friendly establishments :)

If you decide to pick out a costume with your pet this year, here are a few of our favorite places in no particular order:

Special Treats

The best part of Halloween for us and many others was trick-or-treating and coming home with lots of candy. Unfortunately, you can’t give your dog candy, but you can give him a special treat that fits with the Halloween spirit. There are plenty of yummy Halloween treats your fur baby will flip over.  Here are a few of our favorite snacks!  If you’re giving out candy, please don’t forget about our four-legged friends, they are family and love treats too!

Sprinkles Cupcakes                                                                                      Kriser's Natural Pet                                                                                             Blue Buffalo Dog Food

*Reminder, just like kids and candy, pets and treats can be difficult to separate. Pay close attention to how much your pet is eating and make sure you don’t substitute your pet’s routine meal for the day with these delicious snacks.

We spoke with Michelle Cook from Kriser’s Natural Pet and she shared some tips on keeping your furry friends safe on Halloween.

  • Make sure the pet is comfortable in the costume
  • Add reflective gear
  • Your pet should wear brightly colored clothing, so oncoming vehicles or other people know it's there.
  • Bring a flashlight
  • Display Proper ID
  • Halloween can be scary for our pets.  They can get loose, so make sure you use a collar, tags or even a microchip to be assured your pet will find his way home.  Friends of BARC does microchipping.
  • Keep dogs on a leash
  • Keep all pets away from all candy

Remember these few rules to have a Spooktacular night!

Kriser's Pet not only sell all natural dog food, but they sell fall apparel and Halloween apparel!  For our furry trick-a-treaters, they have Fruitables Skinnny Mini Pumpkin Spice treats for dogs or Whole Life Pet Treats.

Yes, Sprinkles have sugar free dog friendly cupcakes!  They served them at our kick-off party and boy, did they love them!

Too cute!  Boo Bars by Blue Buffalo.  Blue Buffalo treats are all natural and yummy!  You can find Boo Bars at Petco, PetsMart, or Unleashed.
